My Method to Quit Smoking
I want to share my method to quit smoking. I smoked for many years, but I always smoked outside the house and in
the car. My wife and kids had asked me to stop on several occasions, but they would give up when the Nicotine withdraws hit, I finally gave
up. My wife told me about a smoking cessation program being given through a local hospital, which I was really reluctant to try. I had met
with failure on several occasions prior to this.
When I finally broke down and went to the cessation program, they talked about what they called the half step. The half step is a program where
you still smoke what you normally do for the first three days of quitting, after that you reduce the amount smoked by half. This goes on every
three days until you no longer smoke cigarettes. They talked about having a huge amount of success, so I decided to try it.
They also talked about using Zyban (aka Wellbutrin) to assist in cutting the Nicotine withdrawls as they didn’t contain Nicotine (like the patch
or so many other stop smoking aids). This took the edge off and helped me to stop within two weeks, that was five years ago.
