Quit Smoking Timeline

quit smoking timeline graphicHere is my story of my quit smoking timeline.  It seems to me that the biggest secret of how to quit smoking is to actual WANT to quit smoking. When I quit, it was my idea. I did it for myself. I simply reasoned with myself that I didn't want lung cancer, and would like to have some extra spending cash. The desire to quit made it easier. When I quit, I did it cold turkey. When I decided I was done, I was done. It was a sort of mind game with myself, but 6 years later, I'm still a non-smoker.

I never did use the patch, but went through pounds of sunflower seeds, and a forest full of toothpicks. I also would cut straws to cigarette size and suck on them. I found that the hand-mouth addiction was harder to overcome than the nicotine addiction.

I will admit that I had to quit smoking twice, but I used the same methods, and now stand successful. Quitting smoking is definitely something I don't regret, and think it's something great you can do for yourself.
